This used to be my favourite movie ever, before I saw Dawn Of The Dead.
It is the probably the first slasher-style movie ever made, and Hitchcock did a great job of it.
Anthony Perkins owned the role of Norman Bates, and Janet Leight was excellent as Marion Crane.
The music was excellent, and the opening titles have always stood out to me.
The revealing of the corpse of Mrs. Bates used to really freak me out, and the shower scene is one of the best scenes ever filmed.

Shows how much I know. I had know idea that Janet Leigh had died. I loved her cameo in H2O.

The final shot of Anthony Perkins staring into the camera still creeps me out.

No question about it this truly is a masterpiece which makes me wonder how the hell anyone could come up with the stupid idea of doing a remake, did they really think that they where able to make it better. While Hitchcock´s Psycho is a 5/5 the remake scores a 1/5, wow! they did Psycho in color without the hart and sole, impressive.
I have watched Psycho part 2 as well and i have to say that it was surprisingly good. I would really like to own the whole series.

Awesome movie..Hitchcocks finest and most memorable movie Along side Birds.. Yeah those are great films but i have a hard time saying which is the best. I have enjoyed every Hitchcock movie i have watched so far. Other strong candidates to the best Hitchcock movie are, Vertigo, Rear window, Rope and North by Northwest, I can strongly recommend these for those who have´t watched them yet.

Hitchcock himself was an odd fellow, but that is probably how he came up with some great films, like this.
I know that because of Psycho you can no longer go into a movie after a certain amount of time it has been running, as before it you could come in, if you wanted, and catch the last ten minutes. Hitchcock wanted his audience to see the whole thing, as not to miss out on the experience.
Psycho is a film I have seen bits and pieces of over time, but have only seen all the way through once. I really, really need to get on the ball and watch this again, but I may need to get it on DVD first. I had a VHS copy, but it just grew legs and walked away I think...

Yes ,i think all the great minds in horror have to go to a dark place to deliver the stuff they make into movies...
Stephen King has terrified me with his books,Along with Clive Barker and dean Koontz..
Hitchcock is a master of horror.....very few minds exist today that can deliver as these men did...
I'm pretty sure if i decided to write on paper some of the nightmares i have or things that pop into my mind..a lot of people would probably be terrified...
I sometimes have some scary ass dreams man....
Thats were Clive Barker got many of his ideas from, his dreams...hellraiser being one of them...
Hitchcock too

Psycho is easily one of the greatest horror movies ever made. Though it is not the first slasher like movie despite the fact that most people think it is.
I year earlier then Psycho, 1959, Vincent Price made a movie called The Bat, in which the murderer killed people one by one (body count style) and the murderer was a mysery until the end.
The Bat was the birth of the slasher film, but there is no doubt in my mind that it was Hitchcock's Psycho that forged the genre into immortality.
