Well, I just saw this for the first time. Its a silent movie starring Lon Chaney. I thought it was pretty awesome. Heres a clip when the phantom gets his mask taken off.

I couldn't see the clip, but this movie was great. I also enjoyed the phantom Robert Englund played.

I liked Lon Sr. as The Phantom. Englund's was fine-but he still is in Freddy mode in every role he plays. For the musical-Gerald Butler as The Phantom was a very nice surprise.

I enjoyed Englund as The Phantom as well. IMO, it's a very underrated movie.

I heard that people actually fainted in the theatre when Lon Chaney's mask was removed.

I heard that as well. Lon Sr. still holds up as one of the premier horror actors even today. Which says a lot about his natural ability. I wish that a copy of "London After Midnight" still existed. That would be a jewel to see!

London After Midnight was recreated using still photos and runs around 30 minutes.

The only movie with Lon Sr. I enjoyed was his Hunchback movie. I don't think he had a tenth of the talent his son did.

I liked the book and loved the Lon Chaney film. I did not like any other version of the story but those two.
