Okay I'm not really sure if I'm supposed to be reviewing these movies here or not, I just pick this thread cause it's for classic movies, but these are not horror movies. So feel free to tell me were to move this and I'll do it unless someone elas dose it for me.
Anyway this is my short reviews of both the 1926 and the 1959 second remake of "The Bat"!
Okay, "The Bat" it was made in 1926 and directed by Roland West. This was the movie that inspired Bob Kane to make "Batman".
Anyway THE BAT is about this old mansion that has some kind of treasure hidden away somewhere and this old lady who writes books for living, lives there with her maid, and let me tell you, her made is really freakin ANNOYING. No I'm sorry but that character really gets on my nerves.
The character that steals the hole show is, the Bat! The Bat is this killer on the loose and he has set his sight on the treasure that is hidden. Not only is the Bat responsible for the inspiration of Batman, he is exactly like him. He has the cape, the mask, the belt, the grappling hook and even the Bat signal! I'm not sure if theres different versions of this film but the one I saw was completely silant, no music, not any kind of malady, so this is the mother of all silent movies! In 1930 Roland West remade The Bat and called it "The Bat Whispers", I haven't seen this one yet, but when I do, I'll do a review of it as well! So if you like silent movies and if you love Batman this is a must see! I give it a 4 out of 5 Stars!
Now I'm skipping ahead to 1959 to the second remake of "The Bat"! It was directed by Crane Wilbur and stars Vincent Price, and on the record I love Vincent Price's work! He is awesome!
Anyway it's the same story, old house, old lady living there and a lost treasure, but the Bat looks different. He dosen't have his bat costume anymore, all he wears is a black mask that covers his entire head excepted for one of his eyes, he wears some kind of zoot hat, a suit and his left glove has 5 sharped claws to kill his victims, he occasionally uses a gun. Anyway this is a great movie, I love it better than the original. So if you like Vincent Price movies this is must see! I give it a 5 out of 5 Stars!
