There is something that I still do not understand. To do something wrong to someone is to be without honor. It creates a negative impurity. If someone wrongs me, I am to resist the temptation. For to do wrong, even justified, is still to do wrong. If someone were to shoot my Mother, shooting his in return does not undo the death of my Mother. All it has achieved is having two wrongs instead of one. All it does is spread more pain. What then am I to do with someone who has wronged me? I could give this person mercy. However, I know that mercy would be lost in this person. It's like a clansman being saved by a black man. Then turning around and saying he would rather have died. I have recently encountered the first person I have ever known in person that mercy would be lost on. He would not appreciate it, it would be above him. He would be unappreciative and continue on in his hurtful ways. I can not seek vengeance because it is wrong. But if I do not seek vengeance how will he ever learn from his mistakes? If no one makes him pay for them, and mercy is lost on him, then do we not have a challenge? It is wrong to attempt to correct his ways by vengeance. However, he has no recognition or appreciation for mercy and honor. If I just let him go, without vengeance, I am preserving my honor. But how will his negative ways be rectified? It seems as though there is something that I am not understanding. Can someone please help me understand what I am not understanding? Thank you.

Does this person have the same ideals and philosophy on life you do?

Some people always view mercy as weakness, they will take advantage of it because they view you as an easy target. It's a lot like a parent who just smacks their kid's hand, the kid quickly figures out the punishment is nothing and so he continues to act bad.
Still, honor is not easy to keep. You need to do what you feel is right, but if this is such an issue, you could bring the law into it. Keep an ear and eye out, take notes, get whatever information on and about them as you can, then use that to put them away legally. This will prevent you from endangering yourself or going to jail over someone, obviously, not worth it. Think smart, you'll find a solution.
