Over the weekend I went to the Sacramento Film Festival and watched IN THE EYES OF A KILLER. It won Best Picture. IN THE EYES OF A KILLER stars Louis Mandylor, Gwendolyn Edwards, Costas Mandylor, and James Marshall. It is a psychological thriller about a blind college professor (Louis Mandylor) who has experimental surgery done on his eyes. The man who donates the eyes was a rapist and murderer sentenced to death. After the surgery, "Jack," played by Louis Mandylor, is able to see and takes on characteristics of the donor. He starts drinking a lot of whiskey, killing people, and terrorizes his wife. They spend their honeymoon on an island, so everyone is kind of stuck. I like this movie, and hope it gets distribution. For now, look for it at film festivals. I also wrote about this movie in my blog: www.terridawnarnold.blogspot.com

You mean there's already a movie like this out there? I thought they were being original. Well, the lady who wrote the story came up with the idea 20 years ago, so. . .

Yeah this idea isn't knew, I've seen a couple movies with plots along this line. But all that matters is if its good, they tend to recycle horrror ideas all the time.

I learned that the Asian movie like this called THE EYE (?) is a copycat. This movie was written 20 years ago, created by one writer. Apparently someone else did some writing as well, left the project, and . . . well you know what happened. That is sad. And the copycat got distribution first.
Anyway, I attended the Reno premiere and got to watch this movie again. They are being looked at by and getting offers from distributors, but nothing is definite yet. With the stars in the movie, it is only a matter of time, though.
