Yeah its a remake, the original came out in like 87 I think, but it does look like a good one. Here's the opening from the original.

I liked the original one quite a bit. Terry O'Quinn gave a great performance as the stepfather.

I remember seeing original and it's sequels in video stores a long time ago! I really admired the cover art on the VHS! I don't remember ever seeing them on DVD though!

I agree 100% FridayFan. The first one is GREAT! Terry O'Quinn just nails it. Highly recommended for those who have never seen it!!!

Yeah the original just had the perfect feel to it for that kind of film. The remake looks like it delves more into mental illness for the stepfather.

Yeah, unfortunately most studio horror is starting to look that way. That and the cast looks very Hollywood to me, but it looks to have a pretty strong story for a remake I like the idea of a mental illness angle. What we need is to have some great new independent studios releases, they still have that gritty feel sometimes.

I cannot believe they're in this movie. They are both good actors, it's just that they usually work in television. This remake should be interesting. . . I couldn't get the video to play.

The second film is entertaining, but I like the third part even better. However, they are both fun to watch.
In Part 2 Terry O'Quinn is comical and scary. Meg Foster is in it. I don't want to give away the movie, but in one scene he is eating Rice Krispies Cereal, and he puts his ear down to the bowl to see if they really "snap, crackle, and pop!" ;D
I like Part 3, but a different actor plays the stepfather. They explain it by saying he had facial surgery. The story works fine for me. This time he marries Priscilla Barnes and courts Season Hubley.
