I can't believe I hadn't heard about this before now. www.tor-forge.com/NewsArticle.aspx?articleId=647I am so happy about this. The fact that Jordan's widow picked the person to write it and will be editing it makes me even happier. It would have been a real shame if the series didn't have an ending.

I think Jordan was the most talented Fantasy author of all time. Even above Tolkein IMHO. The fact his story is going to be finished pleases me very much.

She was half the reason I posted the news here. I remember you saying she really enjoyed the WOT series.

Well the author is starting to write it this month. In fact he's probably already started. So sometime next year your wife and I will finally be able to read the last chapter of an incredible series of books. I can hardly wait. Of course if this guy screws this up he might as well retire as an author. The fans would never forgive him. LOL

Have you ever seen the movie Misery.I could imagine something like that happening to the new author if he screws up the last book.

This is a good series and one of my favorites, even though it slows to a crawl after Lord of Chaos. Moiraine Sedai has always been one of my favorite characters and I've missed her dearly since Fires of Heaven....I can't wait to see her triumphant return in Memory of Light.
As for the selection of this guy to take over, I think it is a sound decision. Jordan left hours and hours of tapes telling everything important and told the rest of the tale to the people who mattered to him. I believe his wife edited the books or at least worked very closely with her husband, so I trust in her judgement.
