College girls in a sorority house are making plans for the upcoming holidays when they begin to get strange, sinister phone calls. Soon after, one of the young women disappear and a child is found brutally murdered in the park. The police attempt to trace the phone calls but are they too late? Is the killer already inside the house?
From the late Bob Clark who also gave us the classic holiday film A Christmas Story, Black Christmas is legitimately one of the scariest movies ever made. The phone calls are extremely creepy and seeing the killer's eye from behind the door as he stalks a sorority sister will make your skin crawl. John Saxon stars as what else? The cop who is attempting to stop the madman.

One of my favorites. I usually watch this twice a year, one of those times obviously being around or on Christmas. Once again, the mystery makes this movie work. The remake is nowhere near the caliber of the original, but I own it for the babes and overall fun time it gives.

Yes, Silent Night, Deadly Night and Christmas Evil are also prime choices. I also like that Tales from the Crypt episode, "And All Through the House". I hear you on the remake. Lacey Chabert though.... The original is top 15 material for me. And speaking of beautiful women, shout out to Olivia Hussey!

I also love to watch these same movies and shows around the season.Tales From The Crypt and Twilight Zone Christmas as well. I still feel that Black Christmas is the most overrated horror movie by the fans ever. It has a few moments, the phone calls, etc., but it just is kind of slow and boring to me.

This movie was pimped to me for so long before I finally saw it and when I did, I thought maybe a second viewing would hel it for me, but it didn't. I watch it once a year but it hasn't gotten much better. I also think it was obvious who the killer was, and that was just a cheap shot at the end of the movie.

See, to me it was clearly that girl's boyfriend. He knew about the abortion , he was shown to be tempermental , and the guys profile they show at the attack at the end looked just like that guy.The same curly hair and all. He was also prowling around in the basement in the climax, why else would he have been there?
They should of flat out said it was him, but I think they just wanted to look clever.

Nope, he isn't the killer. It was Bob Clark himself who indicated that. That is a well known fact. I hear ya, I have heard this from it's fans befor, it just doesn't hold water for me. It's a cheat, like Anne WIlkes was saying in Misery, to me it's a cop out and was just silly. There's way too many obvious signs it was him. I wish I could look the other way on it but it seems way too obvious.

Yep, the only back story you get about Billy is whatever you as the viewer could piece together from those phone calls. I loved it that way.

Definitely. I still hold on my stance for the remake though...it is honestly a good time, simply because it is so goofy.
Explanation almost always destroys the scariness that is originally there.

I watched the remake on The Movie Channel the other night (apparently TMC shows horror on Saturday nights now). I did not like it; however, I only saw the last 45 minutes of the movie.
It does not seem like many people here like the remake and I should check out the original film.
Jlaw: I met Lacey Chabert. I was on the set of "Party of Five," so it was a long time ago. I remember her being very friendly, saying hello and waving at everyone.
TRIVIA: Ron Millkie, who played Officer Dorf in FRIDAY THE 13th, was Lacey Chabert's acting teacher.
