A thought just occured to me. Does anyone else think that Dr. loomis gave up on Michael far to fast? I mean he did spend 7 years true but it takes longer than that to help someone like Michael. Also wouldn't he have tried some medical ways to help him? Your thoughts.

I think Loomis was very fair. His condition was strange as his family seemed nuclear, his famiy didn't seem abusive yet was "the devils eyes" Something apparently only Loomis could see as he was right because everybody else thought Loomis was all his rocker
PS: I am ignoring the Rob interpretation because if I went by that I should be a serial killer too as my family was bad too *rolls eyes*

Remember how many years he spent trying to help him in Smith's Grove? That is dedication right there.
Michael is "evil on two legs," so no amount of therapy is going to cure that.

I am ignoring the RZ version here as well. But I mean wouldn't he have done extensive research to have seen if Michael's condition was common? I mean there were people like Michael back then and Michael's conidition could actually be psychologically explained.

The thing you have to consider is that Loomis was an expert in the field of child psychology. Being an expert, he could probably quickly see that Michael's condition was far different from anything else he or anyone else had dealt with and that there was nothing that could be done for him.
Personally I always thought he gave it plenty of time, I mean there is only so much you can do with a patient that doesn't talk or respond to you or anyone for that matter. There was no way for Loomis to reach Michael because Michael as a person no longer existed, that was the evil's first victim, so I think whether he spent 7 or 25 years I don't think anything would have changed.

I don't think it would have made any difference if Loomis spent 7 or 70 years trying to help him. In his pure form Michael didn't have psychological problems. He was just evil. It's when they tried explaining the reason by either being a pawn of Thorn or a victim of abuse in a white trash house they ruined what made The Shape unique in horror movies. Michael was pure evil. He didn't need motivation or to be defined. In my mind Loomis did his best. But eventually he saw Michael for what he was and realized help wasn't an option.

The doctor did the best he could. Most people these days wouldn't have even bothered.

In A Condtion Like Dat, People Spent Years To Come Out Of "The State Of Darkness" Got To Give Em Credit He Did The Best... But When You Truly See Beyond Your Imagination Dat Theres Nothin You Could Do To Help Or To Cure. You Gotta Back Out. As Xч Said "Most people these days wouldn't have even bothered." Cant Agree More.
