I enjoyed this more than I thought. I was very entertained and a rather unique concept. The balls to the walls murder scenes in the last portion of the film were truly epic. The "virgin" and the "stoner" were epic ;D

Didn't go in with high expectations, but i left being very satisfied. It was a fun movie to watch, the gore was good and the ending was awesome. Some people didn't like it, but for me, it was a roller coaster ride that didn't let up until the credits rolled.Loved the hellraiser homage, that lead cenobite was serious as hell.
Future BD purchase is a must.

Yep Cenobite was my first reaction to that serious mojo the girl saw while being trapped in those compartments. Every bizzare villian you could imagine is in this from zombies, to clowns, to killer snakes to freaking mermaids!

Not to keep dropping my show horror radio links everywhere.... but it is my main form of communication now. I gave a full review of Cabin in the Woods. The whole start of the show is the review so you wont have to sit through much more than a minute to get to it.
Let me know if you agreed with my points.

Cabin in the woods will never revolutionize the horror genre, theres no comparison to the great horror films of past.I agree that the movie seems to go all over the place. The goofy scientists, the unexplained gods.I never really took this movie seriously when i first saw it.I was just happy to see the gore and horror movie homages through out(Hellraiser, evil dead etc etc..) Now the plot of the movie like you guys said went all over the place.I agree with you on that the movie doesn't make much sense, but if you watch this movie just for the fun factor(The gore, the unicorn scene, the zombies and that crazy last act) its enjoyable, for me at least. Thats how i see cabin in the woods, just a popcorn movie that i don't really place in the same category of past great horror films.

I went with It was OK. Definitely a fun idea for a movie but I'll admit I had set my hopes too high. I kept hearing how it would be the future of horror or revitalize the genre. It didn't. It was fun looking for all the little nods to other movies and having the Lovecraftian Gods in the end was cool. But I'll admit it didn't appear to revitalize anything. There was nothing remotely scary in the movie. It was more a comedy than a horror film. I enjoyed watching it. But my expectations were too high and I felt let down by what we were given.

How would it even revolutionize anything? Where would we go from there? What is every movie supposed to be like from that point? People make no sense. You have to point horror in a direction to change it. What direction is this leading to exactly?
It was all hype to sell tickets and it did. But not after the first weekend. That movie was made 3 years ago and sat on a shelf. The only reason it came out was because the popularity of Thor and Avengers. I'm not bashing the movie or anyone's opinion. I'm just kinda pointing out how dumb it was to act like this is a game changer.Scream was a game changer....

That is actually what this felt like it was trying to copy. Scream. It was self referential to horror but unlike Scream had nothing scary in it. It was closer to the Scary Movie franchise than Scream. ;D

yea the new term for that self awareness is meta horror now.
Youre right there was NOTHING scary about this. I was kinda hoping for a better ending too. They didnt do enough with all the horror characters. And ZOMBIES! Are you serious? Total missed opportunity. They couldnt be more creative than that? They obviously had 600 other monsters on their minds to use and they use zombies!

I REALLY wanted that head to come to live and give that girl a tongue lock! The random monsters inside those boxes were indeed epic.

Well if this was made 3 years ago they were actually ahead of the curve when it comes to zombies. They are all the rage now so I guess they were a little psychic. ;D Meta is the in term now isn't it? My God who can keep up with all this sub-categorizing? ;D Lord I sound like I voted I hated it. ;D I didn't. Maybe with repeat viewings I'll appreciate it more. If I don't have the hype in my head maybe I can get more out of it. But no matter how many times I see it it wont be horror to me.

Okay, This is officially one of my favourite horrors. . . Although it was sorta meta for my taste. I found it a bit clever, and fresh. I loved it
