Wow man if I looked into these movies as deeply as you did LotD I probably would shut down this whole site in my realization and all these movies are retarded and pointless.
I just hope I never take the fun out of it by getting that into it. Mrs. Voorhees is right, when you look at these movies as if they are subjected to the same criticisms as Gone with the Wind the fun is lost and I'd no longer wanna be a part of it

What I was saying/meaning was appliance/make-up effects > CGI.
I think CGI is good when you are trying to create something that make-up effects can't do, or help. When a movie uses CGI for EVERY kill, then it becomes more of a lack of interest in that department. It seems to be a common thought, 75% of the reviews I have read about it seemed to mention the CGI, and how badly done it was in some parts.
And really, saying the CGI is BTS/technical stuff is an understatement.. it's not, it is probably the second most important thing in the movie, if not the first (since it is a zombie movie).
I am not saying the movie sucked, I enjoyed it alot.. It just didn't have a Romero feel to it, and I understand that every director progresses (hell look at what Sam Raimi did 25 years ago vs. now).
And it's true, looking into the majority of horror movies and picking them apart will only lead to upsetting facts, but IMO when those facts are sticking out and smacking you in the face it is hard not to take a step back and analyze why it hit you in the face..

Oh I know what you're saying all those points may very well be accurate. But will most likely never be observed by me because I have no reason too. It won't do me any good
I'm livin life to enjoy it, and if any directors F ups may prevent that I overlook it as long as he presented a FUN and ENTERTAINING movie in his F up process.
That's all, if I no longer have fun in whatever it is I do, I bail...

True, true.
But when it comes to movies with me.. Any movie can be fun. I bring alot of crappy movies to work so me and my co-workers can laugh our asses off while watching them (when I mean bad movies, I mean bad i.e. Alien Dead, Toxic Zombies, skinned Alive, etc).
(I agree LOTD was a very fun watch, so was FvJ)
But as a movie fan, I like to analyze the movie.. and what seemed to work and what didn't and like I mentioned above, FvJ was a great watch, but then I picked at it and realized that something didn't sit well with me.. the CGI and overuse of blood.
I personally think I am a bit biased about CGI... CGI has taken jobs/careers from many great FX artists and great stuntmen. Steve Dash was saying the other day (or was it Cliff Cudney) that it is very hard for stuntmen to get jobs now because of CGI... All of the "stunts" are being done by computers.

i dont like cgi either. i think effects are better off being pull of with real things. :Die: l also like to pick movies apart and see what really was behind the movie. i first enjoy it. i thought it had a good Romero feel to it and i think its a reflection of all the previous movies. i was watching the making of the movie and he said he used very little cgi in the movie. i think he said only the building that the high class people lived in was cgi and like two scenes where there are hundreds of zombies. and the only reason he did that is they could not afford to hire 1000 people. the zombie faces was all make up. he struggled to get this movie made and under the situation i think he did good. they gave him half the budget that regular movies get and only 42 days to shoot the movie and maybe an extra week to do reshoots. even before the movie was made he was asked to rewrite the screen play about 18 times. seems like ROMERO always gets the shaft. but i will give it up to him because dispite how it came out it kills many movie of today.

There was certainly more than a few scenes with CGI. Like the zombie with the head attacked by a string of flesh, the gun shot wounds, Savini's kill, to name a few more. I can say a good majority of the kills were CGI...
Like I said I can understand CGI for things like making 1,000 zombies.. That's cool. I just hate it for FX and stunts.

While I agree that some of the f/x were less than what I had hoped for, overall I thought the flick was great. I can't wait for the unrated dvd!

It was good but not great.Too much CGI and the Big Daddy Zombie character ruined the whole thing for me. Not as good as the first three unfortunately.
