*Not sure if there is a Thread like this* What Horror film scared you as a kid ? Mine was House On Haunted Hill 1959. This one scene of the movie scared me shit less as a kid I do remember having recurring Nightmares about that particular scene and really just being frighten of the film overall and actually the scene still creeps me out alittle today. Heres a pic below

I don't have a clue what the name of it was but some huge insects were crawling on a house. It scared the crap out of me!

Altered States. I was around 6 or 7 and it came on t.v. I watched it and freaked the hell out. Had nightmares for weeks. I've since seen it as an adult and have no clue why it scared me so much. Maybe it was all the psychedelic imagery mixed with the scenes of his character getting in touch with his more animalistic state. I don't even know if it's considered a horror movie. But it definitely horrified me the night I saw it.

Very nice topic once again SleepawayCamp661. Mine would be The Exorcist. I cannot exactly remember what age that was, but my guess would be around 8-9. After watching that my mind was focus for weeks in a mode of dead silence. Lets just say I played the leading role in John Carpenter's The Ward. Exactly what was going on in my head.

This topic makes me wonder if we horror fans are wired differently. I know we've watched plenty of horror movies. Most of us don't get scared watching a horror movie, even if it's new to us. Yet I've known people who have watched tons of horror movies and still are able to be scared by them. Then there are people who can't get through a horror movie if you paid them. I had a roommate who literally watched through his fingers and tried talking during the movie we were watching to distract from his fear.

Of course maybe the reason newer movies don't scare us is they aren't scary? Most people when talking about movies that have scared us talk about the classics. Maybe horror isn't scary any more. Horror now seems to be more about jump scares than true fear. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. Back to your regularly scheduled thread. ;D
