I could have sworn they already dropped interest in Halloween. I must be misremembering.
EDIT
I was misremembering. I didn't even know PD had interest in doing a Halloween. I was thinking about the fact the 3rd film set in the Rob Zombie Halloween universe isn't happening. Which is a shame. Because when it was still a possibility there was talk of Tom Atkins having a role. As far as PD not doing a new Halloween. Meh. They don't really support their remakes anyway. Other than doing a prequel to their TCM remake they haven't done more than one film for any of the franchises they rebooted.

How many times can you remake a movie anyway?

Look at how successful The Amazing Spider-Man is. Batman is getting a reboot in a few years now that the Nolan movies are finished.

You aren't dumb. That is a very valid point.
In the case of another Halloween remake, RZH got and still has very mixed reviews, so I don't see as much pressure on whoever might take on the project. Even people who liked it at first kind of soured on it.

I think RZ's sequel really hit bottom when it came out.

View it like this. They are different from the originals, the remake and it's sequel were obviously going to be made to be different, otherwise it would be the same routine over again. They are a different take on Michael Myers that was never explored before, and it was fun. Don't watch them thinking that Michael will be the same, or Laurie, or Loomis because the movies are meant to be a different intrepretation. But if you don't like them that's fine. I loved them, granted they had flaws but they were fun.

I think RZ's sequel really hit bottom when it came out. Well, I know some people who liked RZH, but when the sequel came out, they loved it and found that the flaws of the remake were more visible. I like RZH2, as it looks great and tries to go in its own direction. The remake has poor pacing and can't decide if it wants to be original or a clone of Carpenter's film.

I originally hated the remake. But have since learned to accept it for what it is. Rob Zombie being forced to try to tell the original story while injecting his own style. I don't hate it anymore. I wouldn't say I love it. But I don't hate it. I also hated part 2. But have since learned to enjoy it. It's Zombie telling a new Halloween story that is only loosely attached to Halloween. He obviously had considerably less restrictions and it has a lot more of his style in it. I enjoy it more and more with each viewing. I love Zombie's style. Ho1TC and Devil's Rejects are great movies. I'm really looking forward to Lords of Salem.

The Lords Of Salem was screened at TIFF and it is apparently quite unique to say the least. I don't think it has been picked up by a distributor at this point, but I might have missed some news. The backers of the film (who also made the Paranormal Activity movies) gave RZ total control of the project, so at least he didn't have to deal with meddling suits.

He's at his best when he doesn't have those suits harassing him. If you see news about it getting a distributor please share it.

That is some interesting news. They usually only handle limited releases and home video though, so this might not be on the scale of his previous films.
