Wow yall are slacking I know SOMEBODY here had had to see this. I have not ;D I heard it's better than Wolverine (doesn't require much effort to be better than that sack of putrid piss). I wasn't fond of 3 either. 1 and 2 is where the shitnit is at. Thoughts?? IMDB scores: The First: 7.4 The Second: 7.7 Last Stand 6.9 Wolverine 6.7 . . why >_> First Class 8.1 Thus far First class holds the highest rating.

Wolverine appears in this ( a cameo WHY!?!) but I haven't seen this. What really throws me off is...why does Magneto have the helmet?

First Class is really outstanding. Prior to this, I thought the first was ok, the second was pretty good, and the third was meh. I never saw Wolverine and thus, I didn't pay too much attention to this. My gf wanted to see it and I got to say it really blew me away. She liked it as well, but I want to try getting back to seeing it again.
Magneto and Xavier have always been my favorite parts of all the films, but they truly shine here as younger versions of themselves on the road to what they will become. This is really more along the lines of the Magneto Origins they were talking about, because the most time is spent on him and the guy who play him, Fassbender I believe, is phenomenal. I don't know what else to say because all I have is gushing praise for the story, actors, camera work, and so on.
Definitely the best of the franchise.

Wolverine appears in this ( a cameo WHY!?!) but I haven't seen this. What really throws me off is...why does Magneto have the helmet? See, I paid so little attention to this going in, that I had no clue that cameo was in it. It really made it a hundred times more special not knowing and being surprised. The villain in this, Sebastian Shaw, played by Kevin Bacon (again, tremendous performance here) has the helmet originally. The beauty of this is that throughout the movie, you're waiting for it to eventually end up on Magneto's head and you're just wondering how they're going to go about doing it.

The problem is that magneto created the helmet after his falling out with xavier to avoid him reading his thoughts. For Shaw to have it is strange. Also why are these mutants in the lineup? The original lineup was, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Beast, Archangel and Iceman. So wtf.

Don't know what to say other than they took certain liberties in telling the story. I'm aware of some of the facts you listed from the comics, but most of my knowledge is hazy because I read them a lot when I was younger and a lot of what I know came from the 90's cartoon.
In the film, the Russians created it and gave it as a gift to Shaw. Magneto does take it to keep Charles out of his mind though, so that remains the same.
I don't see the need to slavishly follow the comics page for page personally when the end result turns out so damn good. This is the best comic book based film since The Dark Knight.
Edit: I'm not sure what the next film will be like, but I don't think these current mutants with Xavier are considered X-Men yet. Xavier is still young himself and coming into his own as a leader throughout the film. Maybe in the next one, we will indeed have the remaining members of the original squad join Beast and X officially coins them as X-Men. It's only at the end that the word X-Men even comes up, from what I remember. I really need to see this again!

Will try to check out once I find a good online copy at some point. Sounds interesting and like it might be solid. IT's been a long time since I have seen a solid comic book based fun movie (I didn't find Dark Knight fun, more suicidal than anything) so it's difficult to say what was the last one I thought was something I find watchable over and over (Probably X-men 2). I have yet to see Watchman or Kick-Ass or Lantern or any of that stuff.

I had heard about this one but I was waiting to see people's reactions before heading out to the theatre to see it. With what everyone on here is saying I'll definetly be catching it as soon as I can.

I voted loved it to pieces. I actually found Magneto and Xavier more interesting in this movie than the other ones and appreciate their characters more now.

best of the series imo, Kevin Bacon as Shaw was almost a perfect cast for the role
