The premise of the remake is...just...aggrivating. The 80's one was a product of it's time. Literally you can't remake it. The whole point was that it was something everyone feared, the Communists invading the US. Which we thought was plausible at the time, now it's North Korea? They're asses would be kicked within seconds.

Yeah, North Korea might be highly militarized, but they clearly don't have the means to attack America or any other western nation. I can suspend disbelief in many cases, but not for this movie. It sounds as dumb as Micronesia launching a nuclear strike.

The original country was China which is even more ridiculous. Considering that we are China's main economic partner.

I had no clue it had finally come out. I'll probably give it a watch once it comes to DVD.

LF is right. Everything at Wal-Mart and practically every other store is made in China. And yes we're borrowing a ton from them but they'd be shooting theirselves in the foot if they forced us to pay up quickly. We'd have no money to buy their goods. And they'd certainly never launch a war against us. Well maybe if we banned Chinese imports.

I think a war between two superpowers would mean everyone loses. That would be bad.

I didn't think this was a bad movie at all. I'd give the remake a 3 1/2 out of five and the original gets a five out of five.

How did the North Korean attack angle come off?

It was ok to me. The main problem I had with this movie is Josh Peck. I don't think he did a very good job. They should have got Liam Hemsworth to play the part instead. Another thing, when Jed is fighting with the enemy in his dad's office. How convenient, hehe. I would have gave it a three but a certain part totally caught me off guard and I was like WTF. I wish more people would have died in the remake to. I think only two people survived in the original. It definitely has flaws but I still liked it. Original is better though and I liked the characters a lot more.
