I'm doing some research on Bela Lugosi's 1931 classic film Dracula and i just realized that the 1931 film is also based on Bram Stokers novel. So is it safe to say that the 1992 Bram stokers dracula was a remake of the 1931 film..? The 1992 film was in my mind the only Real Dracula story on film... But please keep in mind i NEVER saw the 1931 film nor any of christopher lee's dracula movies..... I'm pretty sure after i see the 1931 Bela Lugosi film tonight my number one spot for dracula movies will change... What did you think of the 1992 Dracula?

I've always liked this one a lot. The atmosphere and visual details are excellent. Sure, Reeves sucks, but it doesn't bother me too much. Hopkins just didn't fit the role of Van Helsing, amazng as that sounds. I hear Ryder gets a lot of flack for her performance, but I thought she was quite good and pretty hot too. Oldman was great, that almost goes without saying. It was a romantic vampire film, but it also had that brutal and visceral feel to it. The three vampire chicks is one of the highlights of course....damn.
Good flick.

I like Lugosi as Dracula more then anyone in the world.
I think this is the best movie of Dracula ever in the world.
Wish I could combine the two, but it wouldnt work that way.

This version is definitely a lot closer to the book. Like Demon if there was a way of combining the original with this the film would indeed be amazing.

I wouldn't call this movie a remake, or associate it with the 1931 movie at all. They're completely different interperatations of the same book, this one being much more faithful to it. This is one of my favorite vampire movies ever and definatly my favorite Dracula movie
