Seventeen year old Martin Madahas thinks he's a vampire. The only thing is he doesn't have fangs, is not repelled by garlic, and doesn't fear a cross. He is sent to Pittsburg to live with his devout Catholic uncle, Tada Cuda, who has vowed to save Martin's soul or else destroy him. But is Martin really a vampire or just a lonely, disturbed young man?
A rare venture for George Romero outside of zombie movie making turns out to be one of the best vampire movies ever made. Look for appearances by Romero as a Catholic priest, his wife Christine as Martin's cousin, and Tom Savini playing the boyfriend.

O.K. that just sounds like a great idea for a movie. I can't believe I haven't seen it. Just one more to add to my growing pile of must see movies. LOL

The current Lions Gate dvd is pretty cheap, and you get a Romero/Savini commentary. The only drawback is that it's presented in 1.85 widescreen, whereas Romero shot it in 16mm and has said that the 4:3 version is his preferred presentation. The original Anchor Bay dvd, with the 4:3 transfer is long since OOP. Romero has said that his 'original cut' went for almost 3 hours!? But that print of the film was lost.

Interesting Mysterio. Never knew there was an original cut, too bad it was lost.

Martin is good movie. Not a real vampire but more like a wannabe vampire movie.
Its something different from the traditional vamp flick. I have the lions gate dvd.

It's an ok movie. It is definitely a different path from the traditional vampire movie, but I'm not really into it.
It's a movie people like throwing out there to show that Romero can do something other than zombie films, but I'm not a big fan.

It took me a few times watching it before i started to like it. When i first saw it. it was kinda boring and weird, but it grew on me.
I just see it as a disturbed young man who wants to be a vampire flick.

It probably would grow on me, but I haven't had the urge to watch it since the initial viewing a few years ago. Usually, even if I didn't love a film, threads like these would trigger something in me, but so far nothing when it comes to this film.
