Am I the only one who doesn't like this movie?
It has a walking carrot for a monster.
The only thing that is good about it to me is the "Watch The Skies!" line.

I've heard various things about this, is it worth watching, even if for just the sickening humor of a carrot?

It was good for it's time in terms of the nature of the film, but it is nothing like the book it was adapted from.
If they had tried to do actual shapeshifting and such, the censors would have had a fit, so they used a generic monster.
Carpenter's version is very faithful to the original source.

I think most people prefer Carpenter's remake to the original, but I'm not one of them. The original is one of the first horror films I ever saw and remains a favorite to this day.

Well it's hard to pick which to like more. There about as different as night and day. There's really no way of comparing them. I really enjoy both quite a bit. I know Carpenters scares me more. But the original is just a great classic.

I need to watch the original again, as the last time I saw it was a few years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Carpenter's film as well. I just like the original more.

It's good up until the 'creature' is revealed. The R2 dvd has a John Carpenter commentary i'd quite like to listen to.
