In my opinion, this movie is one of the best movies ever made.
Most of you know I am a huge zombie fan and Romero loyalist, so I had to mention this movie.
I have three copies of Night on DVD, two cheap and one the Milennium Edition.
This is the movie that made the zombie sub-genre, and it is a shame that it had become public domain.
The rights to the movie weren't properly secured, so you can legally download it from the internet.
To me, it has the one true type of zombie, the undead flesh eater.
Your thoughts?

I know I'm about to look like an asshole but I couldn't sit threw the entire original I love the remake though... and I was real happy when I was finally able to get the Wdiescreen Color DVD. That was a happy day But were really not supposed to talk about the remake in this topic so I'll shut up now

Trust me, the ending is the best part.

Excellent movie. Awesome that it had a black hero. Which was really something special for the time period. And of course who can forget. "They're coming for you Barbara."

Barbara was a terrible burden on them all, though she did become the hero in the remake. I liked Ben (the black guy), my favorite of the movie, and ranks in my top ten all-time Horror heroes.

There's a black hero in both? I didnt remember that... that's cool. I like when black people are in older movies and playing major roles. It makes it more realistic.

Then give the original another shot, and sit through it. You'll only be able to appreciate the entire movie when you watch the ending, having seen everything leading up to it. And about the blacks being in older movies with major roles, I agree. It makes it more realistic, it shows that skin color is meaningless when it comes to survival, though there is a scene in the original that deals with racism, but is handled incredibly well and only adds to the movie's feel. I love this movie, it is just wonderful. A true classic, untouched and breathtaking do not do it justice.

One thing I dont like about Abbott and Costello movies is that black people are always servents... I just feel guilty watching it... But I guess in the 30's that's the only kind of jobs they had... A&C aren't responcible but it's still odd. Yes I will give this movie another sit threw KK

I still think day of the dead is better. But like always, Romero is god and his work is sheer brilliance, Anyone seen the porn version of this? Night of the Rapeing dead.

The remake one was okay, but the original's feel and the ending made me feel for the character. The remake didn't capture that ironic ending. By the way Tommy, when you do see the movie be sure to pay attention to things. Irony plays a big part in the film, which will only add to the ending's powerful conclusion.

There may be zombies in it, but it is really about the human condition.
It also is full of social commentary, ranging from the cold war to racism.

That's true, but I liked it for its character development (at least in Ben). Barbara was kinda worthless for the movie, which shows around the final ten minutes.

To all those who haven't seen it: Get it!
Pick up any cheap version you can and when you have seen that, get the deluxe Millenium Edition.
