A busload of children has disappeared from the quiet New England town of Ravensback, and Sheriff Billy Hart is on the case. A short while later, he manages to track down the kids, but unfortunately they seem to have been transformed into murderous zombies by a cloud of radioactive gas. How can he stop the killer tykes before they destroy the town? Alright,i was going through my stack to find hawrah to talk about and i came across this.I absolutely loved this B-movie for the music and real 80's atmosphere to it.I'm pretty sure nobody here heard of this movie(maybe Fridayfan ) but i really liked it.
Its definitely for 80's hawrah fans!

I think it's the whole children are supposed to be innocent thing that makes evil ones so scary.

I agree. Movies like village of the damned, bloody birthday,The pit and The children really take evil kids to the next level.
I wonder if they decided to make an evil kid movie today if it would be as effective as they were back in the 80's. #think#

I doubt it. It would take some pretty creative film making to pull it off with the current jaded horror audience.

The sequels for that movie is shit. The first one is the only good one IMO.
By the way do you know what makes "The Children" so damn awesome?
Our very own best clad interview winner Harry Manfredini did the music for the film. Most of the score is from Friday the 13th. Both films were released the same year & he was working on F13 when asked to score for The Children. He just did a mix for both movies.
You can hear it in the youtube vid i posted above. Great f*cking hawrah movie.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to find the dvd for rental.Doesn't hurt to look though. Do you have a mom and pop video store in your town? They might carry the vhs for rent.

Yeah, I remember this one XN. Only saw it once, and that was on youtube probably around a year ago. It's been removed now. I don't know why I didn't try to buy it then, amazon wants $35.94 for it now!

Unfortunately the only local video store that is truly local and not part of a chain is one of those absolutely retarded places that rents edited movies. The last one that was a regular type video store closed about 3 years ago. they couldn't compete with Hollywood Video and Blockbuster.

I couldn't even find a torrent for it. #nnw19i#
Blockbuster rents edited movies as well. This is the one where the kids hugs the mom and she gets fried, right? Yes. You saw it?

I wouldn't say cheesy, unless you think Manfredini's music is cheesy. Its a good film imo. When Friday first talked about the amazon prices i was a bit shocked. I only payed 15 dollars for mine brand new.But if i lost my copy i wouldn't think twice in paying that price to replace it.In other words i would pay the 40 bucks for it.
I would go ahead and recommend you buy at that price, but i'm guessing you have to love 80's horror in order to enjoy it.
If you're not a fan of 80's horror then this film is not for you. I'm a fan of all horror so i love it.
