I think it's cool in a sense but I do wish they never tried over explaining Michaels madness. It's almost as bad as making Jason Voorhees be controlled by a demonic worm. But no idea can be that bad...
So I wish they never went with the Thorn storyline. How do you feel?

i agree tommy thorn is cool but in they shouldent have used the thorn story line. I think it's cool in a sense but I do wish they never tried over explaining Michaels madness. It's almost as bad as making Jason Voorhees be controlled by a demonic worm. But no idea can be that bad...
So I wish they never went with the Thorn storyline. How do you feel?

I agree, somethings should not be explained. Michael's rage/madness should have been left to our imaginations!

Why thorn. they are taking away the credit about Micheal being a crazy brother that wants to kill his sister. why thorn who is thorn? it doesn't make any sense. he was crazy and a disturbed child thats all why give thorn the credit. no I'm sorry...

Michael IS responisbal for his actions. Thorn is used in wich way you use it, And Michael used it to kill, You have a choice when Thorn is passed on you, And it seems Michael accepted it.

Nah, im not down with it. I dont like how Tommy Doyle is a sudden expert on MIchael either, kinda like Jarvis in 6, not my kinda characters.
The only one who ever did it right was Loomis, and he had good reason since he was his doctor, not a formor escaped victim.Silly.

First off, Thorn was explained by Tommy Doyle and apparently was believed by the cult holding Jamie and Micheal. Does that mean it is true......NO. Everyone misses that. There is no reason why it HAS to be true guys, which is why the storyline is not revisited. However, it would be nice if Micheal went after the baby, now an older child. There's your next movie's storyline.
As far as Doly being an expert on Micheal, how is it suddenly? He went nuts as a kid from what he saw and spent his life researching Micheal like a mental patient.

Actually Fred it was in fact real. Remember when Michael burned the big symbol into the hay? Or the tatoo of Thorn on his wrist in Part 5? The only thing helping your theory it when he killed all the members of Thorn. Otherwise I'm afraid they pushed it too hard with what I mentioned above for it to be not true.

The thorn tattoo could have been branded on him by the guy who led the cult, and the burning of the symbol into the hay could be interpreted differently. I'm sure the filmakers themselves are on the side of the naysayers, I just like to explain it away because I can

I prefer enigmatic individuals, but while I don't mind the occassional background, I do mind when it goes a little under the radar as with Thorn.
Thorn, to me, is almost like saying Chucky is driven to kill because the fibers in his plastic-skin are really Communist cells forcing him to do these violent tasks.

I respect the fact that the writers were trying to bring something new and interesting to the series and I believe they had good intentions, however the Thorn backstory fell flat. I actually liked 6 a lot, although the thorn plot was a downside.

I liked it. I mean i always wondered what drove Mike's madness and hate for his family. I mean lets face it he HATES all his family with a passion,,especially the sisters.
Its rather interesting to know that he is actually being controlled by a cult>
But then again lets travel back to H-5 or is it H-4 (going to watch it right now) where Jamie is running from mike and hides in the casket,,while Michael approaches Jamie screams UNCLE!! and for a split second we actually see Michael with feelings...
So maybe its possible to break the cults spell...
But i find the whole thorn thing rather interesting nonetheless.

I don't care for it that much. Obviously Michael didn't either considering he slaughtered them all. ;-) It makes me wonder if in the end he wasn't as controlled as they thought he was. Like he was just killing for the pure evil of it and they just figured he was doing it for them and found out too late how wrong they were. Also whoever wrote the idea behind it got some facts wrong. The Thorn rune has absolutely nothing to do with Druids. The Celtic people didn't have runes. The Thorn Rune and the other runes they show were in fact Norse runes. I have no clue why they changed the story behind the runes for the movie. I guess to fit their ideas.
Later,
Kyle
