I got to go with the originals. I did like a couple of the new remakes but, films are made different today than 25 years ago. For example, Halloween, '78, at the end Michael dissapears, You left the drive-in looking around corners wondering where he was. It got in your head and made you think. Now this generation thinks that a film like that is lame and boring. Most of them like everything spelled out for them. They want to see everything and at the end of most of todays horror films the killer is walking away or they zoom in on his lifeless body at the end while they role the credits. There is nothing to wonder about, nothing that sticks. No offense to any people from this generation but, I'm "oldschool". Halloween, The original Friday the 13th, When a stranger calls, they all could really happen and that gets in your head. I believe stimulating your imagination is what makes a film interesting. Nothing beats a great special effect as well. It's how they blend those is what makes good horror, in my opinion. + =

I totally agree on all points you made. I think some films that were pretty okay before, should be remade. However when it comes to classic masterpieces like Halloween or Friday the 13th 1 and 2, they should leave it alone to stand apart in history.
Sadly money will always be put before pride and dignity.

Very well said COUNT. Today's generation does expect more. And doesn't get the enjoyment out of the classics like we did. It's a real shame.

Society is designed to speed ahead, to get done, and so we don't have time to think about things, which explains the condition of many films.

No remake has equalled or surpassed the original yet, except for Carpenters The Thing. My thoughts exactly. I don't like the original Thing.

Well that just shows the change from that generation to yours Jeremy. I guess each New generation is more likely to enjoy remakes. Due to changing tastes with each one. I doubt anyone born early enough to see the original Thing would enjoy the remake more. I actually like both versions quite a bit. As for the Halloween remake. There isn't a snowballs chance in Hell it will be better. I doubt it will even come close to being as good. But I'll give it a chance to be at least enjoyable to me.

I'm probably one of the few people that enjoy the original Thing more than the remake, and that's not a knock on Carpenter's film, I just like the first one that much.

I have to go with the originals, usually remakes are the shits. The only remake that outdid the original was The Thing

I have to say originals are better, because remakes are mainly copycat in my opinion

What they need to do is remake films that didn't work out well the first time!

That isn't likely to happen Jeremy. Hollywood only wants something that succeeds. A studio isn't going to invest in something that did poorly the first time. Just in case it does poorly the second. Their money is too important to them.

Driller Killer is being remade, which I think is a good thing, as the original lacked focus.

I think Driller Killer is a film that could definitely be improved. I wasn't the biggest fan of the original.

I think that the core story is a good one that could be greatly improved upon.

It depends on the film. Most remakes are just poor imitations of an original concept, few actually surpass an original work.
