This was definitely an interesting movie. Dafoe was amazing and he definitely made for a creepy vampire.
On a side note, I always thought Dafoe would have made a great Voldemort for the Harry Potter films.

It was a great movie. Though I've heard it was more fact than fiction. I don't mean that Max Shreck was a real Vampire. LOL I mean that I've heard he really was rather weird and was so into the part that people never saw him not in character as Count Orlok. That had to be pretty creepy while making that movie. And I could see Dafoe as Voldemort. He could play the creepy factor quite well.

Yeah, that's what I liked about this film. I'm sure some stuff was added in, but it is supposed to be relatively true. As you said, it must have been very creepy back in the day with Shreck staying in role.
I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and they have simply wrecked things in movie form. Fiennes, while competent usually, simply sucks as Voldemort, plus he looks lame. I hope the films are remade one day.

Defoe is very effective regardless of the role he's playing. He's always been one of my favorite actors.
