Nothing lasts forever though.
Gothic tones made way for flashy neon, which almost ruined the series and ushered in a more realistic sensibility, which will last for one more movie, as Nolan has said that he won't make any more after the third film.

I don't do comics so I just go by what keeps me alert and what is Batmaneque. Begins just seemed like a prequelized crime drama with Batman just kinda thrown in there >_>
I do have a question about the Dark Knight, please tell me that the Joker is . . . funny? Or is this version just depressed the whole time?

He to me made me giggle a few times but not as funny as Jack or Cesar.

Ledger's Joker wasn't meant to be like them.
The Killing Joke, a very famous graphic novel (which Burton praises), was a huge influence on how Nolan wrote the character.

Eaxctly Jer, Joker in that was a bit too crazy for me. I do love Ledger and his appearance in that movie though.
