Late shift textile mill workers become midnight snacks for a creature far more gruesome than anyone could ever imagine. From the short story by Stephen King, Graveyard Shift isn't one of his more popular movies but I still find it enjoyable. The over-the-top Maine accent from Stephen Macht and an appearance by genre favorite Brad Dourif as The Exterminator are highlights. Comments?

This is definetly one of King's lesser known adaptations but I've always liked this movie too. I just love the scene when they're cleaning out the basement with the firehose, it just looks like fun. I mean who wouldn't want to use a firehose to destroy stuff sometimes.

Graveyard shift is definitely a genre favorite of mine.Brad Dourif imo did a fantastic job as the exterminator, his performance alone is enough to buy the film-i really liked the character.Another character i really enjoyed was Mr Warwick. "Anybody call break" On man i love this movie!
I also have the Stephen King book "Night Shift".In it,you can read the graveyard shift short story which is a blast to read.

I love the movie. I haven't read the story in a while so I can't remember how close of an adaption it is.

I really love this film and it kinda bugs me that people think its not one of the best films based on a King story. I think its one of the best actually. Mr. Warwick is one of my favorite characters from a King related movie. Stephen Macht + Brad Douriff = win win. The guy who plays the lead character isnt bad either. I though the creature was cool even though its never explained what it really is. This is one of those movies I can watch over and over again and not get sick off.
On a side note, Graveyard Shift is one of those Stephen King movies along with The Mangler, Silver Bullet, Christine, Thinner that get a really bad rap for being the worst King movie adaptions when they really arent that bad.

I must confess to not having seen the movie or read the book. I don't know why either, it just turned out that way. One of the few King's that I haven't either saw or read.

I'm sad that this movie will never get a special edition dvd. Pet Sematary got one because its more popular and more well know but I think Graveyard Shift is a way better movie than Pet Sematary. I actually think Pet Sematary is one of the worst and most boring Stephen King films but thats just my opinion. The sequel is much better and it had nothing to do with King.

I loved Pet Sematary and thought the sequel sucked. Just goes to show we're all different.

I remember the first time I saw Pet Sematary. I can still remember how I squirmed during the heel cutting scene. Its one of the few times a scene has made me squirm.

I can still remember how I squirmed during the heel cutting scene. Its one of the few times a scene has made me squirm. The leg breaking scene in Misery made me more squeamish.

I've always thought what made the Misery scene more horrifing than squeamish is the fact that you see it coming with her setting it up, and the writer's helplessness as he has to just lay there.

I though the creature was cool even though its never explained what it really is. From what I remember, it appears to be a giant bat, though I haven't watched the film in quite some time. I'll have to knock the dust off the DVD and re-examine. And yeah, Brad Dourif is great in this movie.
