If you like it that's cool. I just like my Vampire movies to attempt to be horror instead of goth teens having an angst party. LOL Twilight is aimed at the teen girl crowd. So it makes sense you'd like it. It's just not my cup o tea.

I've had numerous people tell me how good the books are (Hel, my grandma has them!). When that happens with anything, I, as a rule of thumb, avoid it like the plague. I agree with you that it looks absolutely retarted. I imagine that it's not awful, but I'm sure it has little artistic value, and is indescribably overated.
But as it's in the spotlight, and not the Swedish masterpiece I previously mentioned, the well is kind of poisoned for me

The furthest I'll go in the goth direction with Vampires is Anne Rice.

I was totally oblivious to the whole Twlight series(books and movies) until very recently when the traliers started and I'm glad because it looks absolutely awful.

I don't know too much about this movie, but I think Dracula should step in and straighten those kids out! ;D

The only movie I know that can rival it's book was Jaws, but the book has enough extra content to make it worth the read, while the film takes the ending of the novel and adds to it, without ruining the movie.
But I agree, if a movie is based on a book, especially a series of them, they tend not to get what they need to. I sometimes think it'd be better if they made each book into 2 or 3 movies, just so they could get what they need to, but that'd take too long I suppose. Regardless, Twilight seems like the latest perversion fad to taint vampires, and if it sells well, I can almost expect the Count to become a My Chemical Romance-listening, Hot Topic-shopping preteen.

Its what they should have done with all the Harry Potters. You miss too much if you haven't read the novels. Its the reason my parents don't care too much for the movie versions, they have a hard time following the storylines when all of the background has been left out.
