This one's getting a remake as well, I just saw the trailer earlier today when I went to see My Bloody Valentine. I'm not sure how I feel about it, from what I saw in the trailer there's little to no variation from the original movie. But I'm going to hold my opinion until I hear and see more about it it since Wes is involved with it.

Considering he doesn't seem to be able to make anything new worth watching I can see why he'd go back and remake what worked before. It's lazy but effective. LOL

Yes, that seems to be the case.
What surprised me is that he directed Music Of The Heart.

No wonder it was so scary. LOL
At least with him involved he does have some say over how these remakes are done.

Even with his involvement it doesn't guarantee quality. The Hill's Have Eyes Part 2 remake sucked out loud. ;D

I didn't see a trailer for the last house on the left remake. But honestly i'm not that interested in it at all.IMO the original film is in a class of its own.
But thats just my little opinion..i have to realize that my glory theater horror days are over. Its really for the new generation now.

Of course the trailer could be deceiving. *cough*Zombieween*cough* But it does look good. She may have survived up to that point in the movie. But for all we know she dies after her parents ask who did it. In fact seeing her die after obviously going through so much would be good motivation for killing the people involved.

I saw the trailer as well during MBV 3D. I think it looks pretty good.
Sure the original is a "classic" - but it is pretty dated.
IMO LHOTL could benefit from a re-make.

The previews look really good to me so I'll keep my fingers crossed the movie will be successful.

I think it could go either way. If there isn't rape involved, the movie will lose half of it's impact IMO.
I will say this, the Sweet Child of Mine cover being played made me think about this movie diferently for the first time. I don't think I've watched this since having Francesca but certain movies have much different affects on me since becoming a Daddy, especially to a daughter. I think if I watch my DVD right now, this will be one of those movies.

I think Last House on the Left is one of the most important horror films ever made. It certainly pushed the envelope on what was acceptable in the early 70's in horror cinema. There's no way the remake in this day and age can have the same effect on audiences that the original did, but it could still be interesting. I'll definitely be going to see this next weekend.

Your right Fridayfan there's just no way the remake would ever cause the impact the original has. Put it this way I was talking to my mom who has always been a horror fan herself about this movie getting a remake and she wasn't sure off the top of her head which film I was talking about until I told her about the disembowelment scene and then she knew exactly which film I was talking about. That's the kind of impact it had on people, she even told me afterwards that she can still remember all the upheaval surrounding the film when it was released. BTW to this day that scene still can't be shown uncut in some countries.

Wes Craven may have had some hits and misses over the years, but there's no doubt he gave us three of the most influential horror films ever in Last House on the Left, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream.

Looks like garbage, just like the original. Outside of NOES, I'm not really a fan of Craven at all.

I liked LHOTL and NOES, wasn't a fan of Scream. I still have to admit that all 3 films made a big impact on the horror genre though.
