I find it an okay watch something thats good for a watch once in a while but that's about it. I have seen far worse movies than this one and as horror movies go it at least tries something new with a storyline we all know by heart at this point, and that in itself makes it a decent horror movie in my book. With the era of remakes that we have been going through the last 5 years or so, I give a thumbs up to anything remotely original.

I agree Leatherface and FS! I know he touched on the hospital bit from Part 2 '81 But that was barely a remake of the original part 2. I am glad too. I already seen something once. I dont need to see it again updated. I love how the originals are dated already. The 80's kicked ass! I dont wanna see a stupid 2000 version of that stuff. I just want more sequels. If I like um I buy um. If I dont I ignore them like H5, H8 and RZH1.

A lot of people mistakenly call it a remake, but then I ask them where the ghost mommy and white horse were in the 1981 film.

I gave it a 6, Simply because I used to hate this movie more then anything but I gave it another watch and I actually enjoyed the movie alot.I try to think its a Halloween film on its own not a remake or anything again its not a masterpiece but I enjoy watching it just for entertainment purposes.

I agree completely except I changed my rating to 7. Awhile back I decided to re-watch it and changed my mind. I like Zombie's style of film making in Ho1KC and DR so I should have realized he'd use the same style with Halloween. I was a little uptight and pre-judged the film based on past Halloween's. Once I let those prejudices go and looked at the film with a little bit more open mind I could see a lot to enjoy. I like Laurie's character in this film. After what she'd gone through it was completely understandable how fucked up she is. Sheriff Brackett was even better in this movie than the first one and I think Dourif owns the role now. Loomis was a jerk and had no resemblance to the original character. But he really wasn't that big of a part of the film and McDowell was the person who came up with the idea to make him so reprehensible. I love McDowell so if that's how he wanted to play him I'm cool with it. I find with repeat viewing I enjoy it more each time.
