I already said all that IFdude, did someone delete my post? No what you said is in the Wolfman post. I didn't know you'd already said it until after posting what I wrote and then reading basically the same thing in there. LOL

There are a few things I don't like about Frankensteins Monster.
#1 I didn't like how in Son of Frankenstein (3rd Frank Film) The Monster suddenly stopped talking after learing how to speak very well in Bride of Frankenstein (2nd Frank Film)
Why is that? It was played by the same guy (Boris) it would have the same voice... The Monster barely did anything in that movie on camera... so having him silent really took him away from the film...
Also Karloff looked very old as The Monster in Son of Frankenstein. The make-up job was pretty bad too... not even close to the first two...
#2 Why is The Monster always weak? What's wrong with him? He was supposed to be a super human but instead he could barely do anything... why write him like this? Were they afraid to have the actor perform any stunts or something? Why keep him confined to weakness throught the Universal Classic Horror Franchise?
#3 This is part of #2 as well, due to #2 he was reduced to a charcter who would soley perform end of the film rampages and nothing more... He was pretty active in Ghost of Frankenstein (4th Frank Film) so that was cool, but in House of Frankenstein (6th Frank Film) and House of Dracula (7th Frank Film) he was nowhere to be found.
Frankenstein meets The Wolfman (5th Frank Film) and Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein (8th Frank Film) have him in an active role throughout, he blends in well with all the other roles. So those two are good as well.
Back to my #1 Problem (him not talking) that also played a factor in Frankenstein meets The Wolfman when he was suposed to be talking in Y'gor's voice (which they cut out entirely). Nor did he talk in Ghost of Frankenstein, House of Frankenstein or House of Dracula.
The factor that saves all my issues with The Monster is that the movies as a whole were strong. The Wolfman and Dracula (in A&C at least) and the rest of the cast did excellent jobs and made the movies great in my opinion. Of course Abbott & Costello made there movie with The Monster amazing! Having Lugosi and Chaney made it legendary!
What do you think of all these things?

Hmmm thats a really hard one Tommy I guess I'm still amazed by the films, that i failed to even notice this until i just read it.. I'm watching son of frank right now and i do notice it.. The only thing i can possible think of is when he was revived by Frankensteins son,the monster lost his speaking abilities Technically he was dead,,maybe something happened in between.. #2 Why is The Monster always weak? What's wrong with him? He was supposed to be a super human but instead he could barely do anything... why write him like this? Were they afraid to have the actor perform any stunts or something? Why keep him confined to weakness throught the Universal Classic Horror Franchise? I think the monsters weakness in son of frank was just a rush script job..back in those times..but they improved in Abbot and Costello meet frank in terms of more action and character

I can't believe Glen only has one vote. He looked great as Frank. Second to Boris IMO.

Glen looked okay, but he didn't act the part very well. He was way too robotic and at times just plain laughable with his arms sticking out in fron of him like a stereotype zombie. I think Glen's best Frank Monster performance was in Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. I liked Lon Chaney Jr. as the creature though.

When did Lon Chaney Jr play the Creature? Do you mean the Monster?

I meant "The Monster." I just don't like referring to Frankenstein's creation as a monster, because I don't see him as a monster, but pure innocence. Anyway, Lon's performance as Frankenstein's creation in Ghost of Frankenstein was a very good one. I loved the scene where he brings the little girl on the roof to get the ball.
