There has been a multitude of discussion as of late about the inevitable return of Michael Myers to the big screen. With all the rumors and talk we wondered if an announcement would be made soon and today we finally get some solid facts. According to a representative of the Weinstein Brothers, the duo have officially green-lit the long awaited project after nearly a 3 year wait.
Immediately after Zombie's H2 hit theaters in 2009 it was announced that director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer would be working on the third (3D) installment taking the series quote "back to the John Carpenter roots". The first draft of the HALLOWEEN 3D script was written and presented to TWC (The Weinstein Company) but the project was put on hold due to a restructure of the companies finances at the time. Many wondered if the famous "white mask" killer would ever make his way back to Haddonfield.
Does this mean that the HELLRAISER remake has been put on hold (Lussier and Farmer are both signed to work on it as well) or will H3D take a front seat? From what we've heard in the past speaking with Todd Farmer we are leaning ont he side that HELLRAISER will be made first followed by HALLOWEEN 3D. That is not concrete but something that was speculated at the time of the interview and something that the crew was simply waiting for the Weinstien's to confirm. With today's news we would assume that if HELLRAISER does indeed get made first that H3D would be slated to begin production in late 2012 with a 2013 release date, however nothing is set in stone at this point.-HorrorBid.com

I added more to the first post
The major details is that RZombie has nothing to do with it. I hope they cast Tyler Mane as Michael again. He is amazing!

I have to disagree. Mane to me is a miscast

It's hilarious how they always say something like "taking it back to its John Carpenter roots" with every new installment and it always ends up being the complete opposite.

#takc4w# I know... how many time have we heard that with every new Marilyn Manson CD or horror movie. They will NEVER go back because it is a different time! You can only do what you will do now! You can only sell what sells now! Carpenter did go back to classic horror roots. He did the NEWEST thing AT THAT TIME! Just like everyone does!
Hatchet II was the perfect example of proof that no matter what these guys think they are making... it will NEVER be what we loved about the roots.

I have seen a lot of questionable stories from Horrorbid. This also isn't on B-D.com.
Plus, if this was real news, it would have been mentioned on the Halloween board. This sounds like some idle speculation.
EDIT:
I just did a fairly extensive Yahoo search and all that came up was articles from a few years ago.

Yes HorrorBid has been wrong before.

To be fair, all of the horror sites have posted their fair share of false or exaggerated information. I remember when B-D posted about reshoots for RZH that amounted to "six insanely gory deaths and a gory new ending." The movie was far from gory....
However, they seem to fact check more then Horrorbid.

This is interesting, but with all the talk that has gone on in the past about his one and then having it put on hold for so long I'm probably gonna wait a while before I start to get excited about this one. Just want to make sure I'm excited for something that's actually goning to happen.

Bloody Disgusting is the king of reporting the slightest rumor, so it is odd they wouldn't have this yet.

The was just another bogus rumor by Horrorbid. Bloody-Disgusting said so and Todd Farmer gave a very confirming statement on Twitter.

Even if they do make it, I don't see why they're trying to make it like the original. They tried that twice and didn't succeed either time. I think they should make up a completely different plot and go from there. Hey, the original H3 didn't even have Myers in it so its not like they can copy it.

This does not bode well for the franchise...

Yeah, the Weinstein's will probably just rush out some DTV sequel so that they can keep the rights.

Whatever credibility they had before posting that "story" is gone, that is for sure.
