I think it's stupid to re-boot a franchize whose last film was only 4 years ago.

Yeah, rebooting after just a few years is odd. I have careful reservations for this film. I think the low budget could help them not be so wasteful and maybe be a bit more creative and focusing on a solo villain. It's surprising they have an old character like Gwen Stacy...I really like that choice. It could be meh, but I have some hopes for it.

My thoughts exactly, its way too soon to reboot this franchise. It would make more sense to do a straight sequel and just have different actors since its so soon after the last one.

I too cant believe this is another damn origin story... arent people sick of seeing the same stories retold over and over? Just get on with the fucking story! There's thousands of comics out there to make a great movie from!

They went with a reboot because Raimi and the studio couldn't agree on anything when it came to a possible Spider-Man 4. They had already forced him to use two villains in Spider-Man 3, which resulted in Venom (who Raimi didn't like) getting maybe 30 minutes of screen time.

And plus this is a more accurate version.

Guys I dont care... lets just call this Amazing Spider Man and take a whole saga from the comics and make it a movie! We dont need to see this shit from 2001 rehashed again. No matter how many minor details are changed. Or major for that matter. I dont care... no one cares.

There is an entire market that cares, this is not like the original film at all. Much like how Batman Begins was nothing like Batman (1989)

Rebooting quickly is a trend that happens regularly now. Just look at The Incredible Hulk coming soon after The Hulk. Batman is getting a reboot after The Dark Knight Rises. The latest X-Men film was as well.

Ive heard that atually the recent X-Men film is a prequel somehow.

It is indeed a prequel, but it is similar to Spider-Man in that they released a disappointing third movie and had to start fresh.

Yeah i agree with D3MON its just another one telling his story over again and we really dont care because most of us have seen the 2001 movie but we have the younger fans that dont know the story behind Spiderman so I dont know I would really would like a sequel though.

It is far more accurate to how he became Spider-Man and is going to be a much better film.

with the Avengers and TDKR coming out the same time next summer, I think this movie will be over looked, much like what I think happened to XMen First Class, which I thought was excellent
that trailer really didn't impress me much, that part at the end where it goes first person looks like something straight out of a video game

That kinda bugged me too. I hope it's not like that for the movie.

There is an entire market that cares, this is not like the original film at all. Much like how Batman Begins was nothing like Batman (1989) I totally understand... but BBegins way waaaaay after BatMan 89. And it had MUCH more to offer in terms of CGI and such. This is a joke. So now were supposed to get all excited all over again when he gets bit with the spider again... and when he learns his powers again and when his Uncle gets killed again... gimme a break. I wont watch this on principle... just to show them that I will not watch the same movies again every ten years.

But demon this isn't the same. His uncle dies a different way, he has different powers ( the webbing is not a power this time) the villain is different and the story is different. And the spider who bites him is different, the original film ha dhim bit by a genetically altered spider, this one is a gamma radiated spider.

Looks weak as hell. Sure, some things are different about it and Spider-Man has his particular origins that can't be screwed with, but man, a lot of this was deja vu....is it just me or were even some of the shots the same as the 2002 version? The stuff that wasn't the same like Peter not being a nerd, but being some sort of emo hipster was just bad....I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I saw him with his hood on, drawing in the class...lol.
I'll reserve judgement for the film of course, but I can't say the trailer has me wanting to make the trip to the theaters.
