It's a horror, sci-fi, and fantasy awards show that Spike TV hosts.

Here is a tidbit about the DVD transfer of the film.
It's a bit tough to explain. Zombie's Halloween was composed for 1.85:1 (small black bars on a 4x3 TV -- think Halloween 4). However, it went into theaters at 2.35:1 (big black bars, original Halloween). Typically, 2.35:1 means extra wide, way more space to the sides. But all they did is chop the top and bottom off the originally framed material. Basically, it's a 1.85:1 film with blacked out vertical space.

How unbelievably retarded...

Strange, i did not notice anything different about the letterbox compared to other movies. I guess I'll check my workprint and compare. Maybe it's just another reason that people want to nitpick on this film I dunno
BTW- definately holds truer to the original movie than TCM remake did.

This isn't the only movie that has been messed up in the formatting process.
They have yet to release a good widescreen version of Evil Dead and the fullscreen version of Martin is better then the widescreen.

I will just agree on all of your thoughts on this embarrassment that I'm not a typical asshole who hates this movie for no reason...

I could care less how close it was to the original. It started out like it would be very different. Then it was like Zombie changed his mind and decided to go back to the original story. He put the majority of the original story in but condensed it so there was zero character development. It was like he couldn't decide which way to do it so just did both. It ended up where you could care less about the characters. In the original I actually cared when people were killed. In this travesty I not only couldn't care less. I actually wanted them all to die. Quickly so the movie would be over. Especially during the scene where Michael is trying to get Laurie in the house. After so much time spent in there I was actually hoping he'd hit and kill her. The man doesn't know how to make a horror movie right. A person should care about the people the Monster is after.

What some people see at nitpicking, I see as valid opinion-based criticism.
I figure that people who like a movie would want to see a good transfer of it on DVD, not a botched effort.

EXACTLY Jer! Why would anyone want a botched transfer for a movie they say they like? Instead of accusing me of nit picking they should be put off because they arent even getting the movie as it was originally shot...
Who would ever stick up for the botch job, instead of agreeing with unhappy customers?

I could care less if it wasnt the way it was shot. All i care about is that im able to watch it. Ive never cared about how a movie is transfered to DVD as long as im able to watch it and enjoy it, its fine with me.

Well, the one thing we can all agree about is this is one of the most controversal horror films. I cant wait to hear what everyone says when the new F13 comes out.

Colt, how would you feel if they released Day Of The Dead on DVD and the sound and audio didn't match and half of the image was chopped off to fit the small screen?
In terms of the F13 reboot, it won't be as controversial.

I doubt it will be even close to as controversial. The people involved are all talented people. In fact the only ones I've heard involved that worries me in the slightest are the writers. That's because of their work on F vs. J. But I've also heard they wrote a much better version of that movie and that it was Shaye's influence that screwed it up so badly. Without him sticking his nose in the movie would have had much more connections to the Friday the 13th series. Including Tommy Jarvis. I think as long as they are allowed to write it their way it's going to end up being a pretty good movie. They definitely have a MUCH better Director and DP involved than with anything Zombie has been involved with.
