I'll just say it now if this board goes to Hell again because of a movie I'll be spending about 1 day a week or less here.

Oh well, I will still see it. I hope Craven directs and Englund is somewhat involved.

We are probably a LONG way from any kind of announcements as far as anyone being involved in it. They can't even start writing it until the writers strike is over. They don't generally attach Directors or actors until a rough draft has been written. So this could be a long time coming.

I wonder how many people are going to get banned in the Nightmare and Friday remake threads ;D
4 or 5 people were banned in the Halloween remake thread.

I could see it happening. New people show up thinking this is another BD.com thinking they can call each other names due to having a different opinion and that type of thing. If it does I'll be happy to get rid of them. We won't stand for any weirdness out here. ;D

LOL Oh right. I don't watch t.v. often enough to remember commercials. Well except some Superbowl commercials. It would be funny if he was in the movie. Does that whole thing then Freddy guts him.

I see everyone's point of view on this but I also see no problem with Englund remaining as Freddy. He is burned and doesnt move fast anyway, so whay can't he play him until he's old and brittle?

You're right. So is everyone else who wants Englund to stay Freddy indefinitely. No one can replace Englund. I don't know what I was thinking. ;D

I really didnt like Freddy in the last movie he was in. He looked okay but his voice and his acting are amazingly off. Its time he just moves on with his life and leaves the role to someone else. Its time for fresh air in this franchise I havent liked since Part 2.

well, heres some news on a REMAKE. No intentions of a prequel where i found my info:
Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have been set by New Line to relaunch the movie series centered on the iconic killer, who haunts the dreams of teenagers and kills them in their sleep.
The trio will create a new franchise based on Wes Craven’s 1984 film “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Originally played by Robert Englund, the Krueger character haunted nine films and two TV series in what was New Line’s most lucrative franchise until “The Lord of the Rings.”
Deal comes as Bay, Fuller and Form ready an early May start for “Friday the 13th,” New Line’s relaunch of another iconic baddie, Jason Voorhees. Marcus Nispel will direct from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (“Freddy vs. Jason”).
Both franchises will be given a complete overhaul, just as Platinum Dunes did with the Nispel-directed “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” New Line won’t hire a writer on “Nightmare” until the writers strike ends.
