The first one was massively over hyped, but I wouldn't call it a bad movie.
It didn't exactly make Victor Crowley the new horror icon like Harry Knowles raved about.
As for the sequel, they probably should have made this movie already while there was still some buzz, as it died down a while ago.

Yeah it had good momentum a couple years ago and now its kind of been forgotten. Still good to see a new one coming out though.

Don't recall ever seen a "Hatchet" thread by itself but Hatchet 2 threads so I just thought I'd ask, does anybody know when this movie comes out? Is it going to be a direct to movie or theatrical? Probably direct. I thought this movie was alright for a slasher. I think it's a bit overhyped to be "the best" in this decade according to some. Quite frankly it's hard for many to capture "a slasher" feeling now a days for some strange reason. Overall I thought it was good with a couple of likable charaters. Maybe the second one will be an improvement

www.dreadcentral.com/news/34806/danielle-harris-lands-lead-hatchet-2Maybe she can redeem herself with this. Marybeth is a much better role for her than Zombie's version of Annie Brackett was. I don't think an official release date has been announced other than it's slated to be some time in October. I am looking forward to it. I loved the first one.

I saw the poster for this new movie, nothing that impressive but the movie may do well. I still want Adam Greens' last movie "Frozen" to be released since I wanted to see that ( I know all of yall hated that movie as soon as I listed it on here ;D )
Hopefully Green will correct the errors of the last movie to make this one even better!

I want to see Frozen too. It looked like an interesting premise for a movie.

I want to see Frozen too. It looked like an interesting premise for a movie. I made a thread for that movie way back when months ago and nobody on here even wanted to see it but me ;D It has a 47% on Rotton Tomatoes so it can't be THAT BAD. Especially since most get really low ratings.

If I had I'd still be reading them. ;D I do want to see it. Looks like a good movie and it has some actors in it I enjoy watching.

Danielle Harris must need the work if she continually resorts to Halloween movies and other slashers.

She needs a better agent, plain and simple.
Jamie Lee Curtis moved on from slashers and ended up being in some very famous roles, winning a Golden Globe for True Lies.
The fans seems to think that an actor has to stick to Halloween and horror films, but they have no understanding of how someone might want to advance their career.
Hatchet 2 will be missing something without Joel David Moore.

I think many actors that stick with the genre probably couldn't make it in mainstream movies. I hate to sound harsh because I love a lot of veteran genre actors but some of them are better at sticking with what they are best known for and good at. Simply put, I don't believe Danielle Harris isn't in better roles due to lack of trying. I think it's smart when an actor who has mainstream success early in his career a la James Van der Beek or whatever his name is from Dawson's Creek comes to realize that after the show ended and they can't get high paying gigs, it's smart to stick with B movies or horror. Plus if you become beloved in the horror genre, it can be very rewarding as we all know.
I really enjoyed Hatchet and am hoping this will be somewhat as good. We shall see.

I think he should work on the story a bit more and the characters. If he got that under wraps, the sequel might be better!

Keep in mind that she did turn down Halloween 6 because the role was too small for her and she did not want to die in the begining of the movie. Maybe she's stuck up also, who knows. She has taken many different rols that the avergage B actor takes.A few spots on random TV shows and also some voices for cartoons. Also, some horror. Just like most B actors they just can't cut it in mainstream movies.
Again, it's not an insult to her at all, but she is a B actress at best. If it weren't for Halloween she wouldn't be getting half of the love she gets and most of the guys that were happy to see her in Zombieween were just excited cuz they heard she was going to be topless.

She is rather overrated by a lot of people.
