I have to say that I actually enjoyed this movie. It makes no sense, because if you knew me at all and what I like and so on, you would say there is no way I could like it. The original is my favorite movie of all time....that's another thing. But to the shock of a few of my friends, I actually liked it. It's fairly brutal, hilarious, and stupid fun....basically the opposite of what makes the original work. I think it is easily a top 4 Halloween flick (not counting Season of the Witch....I love that flick, but not really a part of the franchise)and it at least gives us the best looking Michael since the original.
I know it is a remake, so it is usually condemned as horrendous before it comes out, but I've grown numb to the whole idea of remakes and I think this is the film that did it. It showed nothing was sacred..as if the remake of TCM didn't already do that.
There are far worse flicks that are loved more than this. Decent flick and I have a very soft spot for Scout Taylor Compton, I really dig her. 7/10

Rob Zombie's Halloween was not a bad slasher film, but it just was not a Halloween film. It had way more of the Rob Zombie feel then it had Halloween. Hell it had a Christmas scene! They should have just kept it in the one night formula, just like the original. The constand year after year thing they did just lost the essence of Halloween.

I happened to love this movie. I don't know why everyone else rips it apart, but I went into that theater thinking it would suck, and I left loving it. I thought it had everything modern horror movies commonly leave out, such as enough suspense. Not since Saw have I seen anything good come out of this Century so far.

I don't know why everyone else rips it apart. Actually that's not true... if they ripped it apart, they ripped it apart by saying what sucked about it. If they did THAT... then they are telling you why, so you should know why they are ripping it apart. Then again there's always someone that says they hated something, you ask why and they respond with "I just do". In that case yea... I wouldn't know why they hate it either. In any event you shouldn't worry about it. I wonder the same thing with many movies I love. It all comes down too one thing. Everyone is different, even if we agree sometimes.

I can see the flaws of this movie and why alot of people dont like it. Im not really sure why i enjoy it, i just do. But to each his own. Like the old saying goes, "One mans junk is another mans treasure"

I thought this was an excellent film.
This was a film about Michael Myers - not about Laurie Strode. I think that is where it differs the most from the first film.
And because of that - I thought it was great to see the film focus on Michael and his background.
I loved it and I thought Zombie did an excellent job bringing Michael to the forefront.
Its not as good as the original, but it was far more than just a remake. It was really a re-imagining....and it did an excellent job of bringing more substance to the character of Michael and not being just a "scene by scene" remake.
If your a true fan of Michael Myers and not just Laurie Strode- then I can't see why any one would not like it.

If your a true fan of Michael Myers and not just Laurie Strode- then I can't see why any one would not like it. lol you always say "true fan" with things that aren't exactly a fact.
Example I feel if you are a true fan of Michael Myers then you would not like this movie one bit. I would have never announced that till now (just to show you that saying true fan is a specific thing to say). Why? I have already explained how explaining Michael Myers makes him less interesting. I talked about the sister angle and how it effected him.
It single handedly destroyed any mystery about Michael Myers. Once Michael had even the slightest goal he was trying to accomplish that ended the phantom quality. Michael went from a sick mind that scared the shit out of you because there was no rhyme or reason to his sick twisted murders. Laurie simply walked to his doorstep and he was immediately fixated on her. He couldn't take his eye's off her for very long.
It could have been YOU dropping those keys off at the Myers House! It could have been me or any of us! That's what made it so scary. There was nothing saving us from him. Now we can take comfort knowing were not related to him or in the way of (or near) Laurie and him. Before anyone was game. Now we see he is just trying to kill everyone in his family.
RZ took it one step further and showed us we was a typical nerd in school who got picked on by bullies. He liked to torture small animals? Can was say double cliche... Now his STEP DAD hates him and his mother is a stripper. He has a dysfunctional family? OMG please stop... Then we find out he stops talking for 15 years because he was POUTING since Loomis wouldn't let him out of the hospital! Jesus Christ.... get Michael a tampon!
Then he somehow finds his sister 15 years after she was 2 years old? How? Different name... all grown up... are we too believe just like the crock Part 2 implied. He "just knew" it was his sister?
Give me a break man...
Any true fan would not want Michael explained to death. Especially the cliche explanations Rob came up with. The more you explain him the less interesting he becomes and that's why RZ Halloween is the least interesting movie I have ever seen.

He's an inexperienced retard and he came up with exactly what we thought he would...
It's the Weinstein's fault! He was far too inexperienced to handle such an important project! Far too inexperienced!

Interesting points Demon. I just felt that if someone was really interested in the character of Michael Myers being explained - his history- background - etc etc --- then I would think that they would like Zombies version.
Maybe using the statement "true fan" was not the best way to put it - because obviously one could be a "true fan" of the franchise and still not like Zombies version.
No hard feelings right?

Of course not. There never are with me. I love discussing things in high detail. It's cool. I was just saying how saying true fan and making an example is too tuff too do because there's so many ways too look at something.
I obviously consider myself a true fan of Michael Myers. He was everything to me from 2000-2004. Then I got more of a life ;D j/k
He remains my fav modern day slasher. Even more then Jason. Something so simple about him and so haunting. Unfortunately the only movie to capture the true Michael I love was Part 1. The rest just didn't know who Michael was. No one had a grip on him. Not even Carpenter...
Part 2 was too much. It just wasn't like Michael too do half of what he did there. Especially that kill where he helled the nurse up with one hand.
Part 4 was SO not Michael... walking on roof tops? That's a real phantom... oh yea... then picking a kid up and crushing his face? Ramming a gun threw a girl and pinning her to a door? Oh yea that scene coulda fit in Part 1... oh yea...
Part 5 I wont even go there...
Part 6 Obvious...
Part 7 was close yet still just not him. Especially his look. If I thought it could be him that kept taking away from it.
Part 8 wont go there
None of what you saw in Part 4-8 woulda happened in Part 1. They just completely lost sight of what Michael Myers is. That's why Halloween 1 will always be the true icon. The rest are for shits and giggles.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Part 2. I thought it was an excellent sequel for it's time......but that's just me.
