To me Leatherface/ TCM franchise has never got the credit it deserves. With the exception of god awful part 4 in my opinion this franchise is stronger/better than other old school horror icons like Jason, Freddy, Michael, Hellraiser, Chucky, etc. No doubt in my mind. I agree. I have a theory or 2 why it hasn't. One the seven films have been spread out over almost 40 years. Most of the more popular and respected franchises have that many films in a lot shorter period of time. Another reason, continuity. The original and this film flow together well as do the remake and it's prequel. Every other film was, at the very best, loosely connected. I think a lot of the reason they weren't connected well, is the years in between and lazy writing. Every sequel tried to replicate the same scenes with new characters, instead of trying something new. In doing that, the story connectivity suffered. They were good films. except for TCM TNG of course. But the continuity really didn't exist. So each film ends up feeling like it exists in a separate universe from the original. So due to the years between, and the lack of connection, the franchise as a whole doesn't get the respect it definitely deserves.

I was browsing online and it looks like Texas Chainsaw 3D might have a possible April/May DVD/Blu Ray release date. Definitely something to look forward to!

I wouldn't get any hopes up about a sequel at this point, as its theatrical run was generally considered a disappointment. If the home video sales are poor, it will be a situation similar to the F13 reboot where the franchise is "on hiatus."

I wonder if the regular DVD will have all those special features as well?

They might not have as many bonus features on the DVD release. That encourages people to upgrade, which isn't all that expensive now.

BUMP: www.movie-censorship.com/news_en.php?ID=5295We all know how much studios love to release "unrated" versions of movies on home video, especially with horror. This movie was indeed cut to get an R-rating, but the uncut version will only be available via digital download. Considering that it performed poorly in theaters, you would think that they would be itching to cash in on a gimmick. Also, the uncut version was shown theatrically in Canada and the UK. Only the MPAA took issue with the content. I know that this movie was very polarizing and don't want to start an argument.

Saw this last night. Best sequel of the original films. Knocks 2 and 4 out of the water and clocks 3 out too. I thought they wrapped the original, gave interesting backstory and mondernized it pretty good.
A potential backstory would be for the new Sawyer girl to have a new family and re grow the family over again.
